YOUR FAVOURITE MTV SHOWS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON PARAMOUNT+

Here's Why You Won't Be Able To Play Your Nintendo Switch Games On Your Friends' Consoles

Looks like we won't be able to share games on the new console.

Unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, you won’t be able to play your digital Nintendo Switch games on different consoles.

Nintendo’s new account system locks games to User ID and not consoles, which, in theory, makes it much easier to upgrade/change consoles and keep your content.

However, unlike other current-gen systems that do the same, you won’t be able to go to your BFF’s house, download your profile, and play your games there.

When asked if the games could be shared across different consoles at a recent Nintendo World NYC Q&A, Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi confirmed that it’s not possible… well, for now, at least.

“Currently we don’t have a system like that in place for Nintendo Switch, but we haven’t made any final decisions about how we would approach that going forward in the future, so unfortunately I can’t provide any concrete answer for you right now,” Takahashi said in a translated answer.

So while that doesn’t sound like a definitive ‘never’ and Takahashi confirms it’s not a final decision, it doesn’t sound like it’ll be ready for launch, either. Sad times.

The Nintendo Switch is available from March 3, 2017 and seriously, we cannot wait. Have you managed to grab your preferred Nintendo Switch username yet?
