To celebrate the arrival of 'American Horror Story: Hotel', we thought we would look back on seasons gone by and remind you all of those TERRIFYING moments *shivers*.

Sorry if we unearth nightmares you've buried deep, we just couldn't resist it...

1) Dr Arden Abusing Shelley In Asylum.

When Dr. Arden tells nymphomaniac Shelley that he's clipped her wings after she tries to escape, ANDTHENturns her into a Rasper. We loved Shelley, but when she's crawling up the steps in the playground we couldn't help but grab a pillow.

2) The Bloody Face Reveal In Asylum.

When Lana realises that Dr. Thredsen is Bloody Face when she notices his lamp is made from human skin. JUST NO!

3) Vivian Eating A Brain In Murder House.

It appears demon babies need the fanciest of diets. We've seen some pretty gruesome things but eating a brain takes some beating.

4) Alma Putting An Ax Through Grace's Head In Asylum.

Okay, so having two wives is pretty weird as it is but when one is a despressed lunatic, things aren't going to end well.

5) Sister Jude's Electric Shock Therapy In Asylum.

Sister Jude's demise in one of the saddest things in 'Asylum' but when they give her electric shock therapy it's not only disturbing, it's just SO SAD!

6) Moira Biting Off Joe's Penis In Murder House.

Moirathe sexy-not-sexy maid's special trick comes out a few times in 'Murder House', but only when it's for the good of the house. This incident wasparticularly bloody though...

7) Lana's Aversion Therapy In Asylum.

To "cure" her lesbianism, Dr Thredson decides that aversion therapy is the way forward. This 'therapy' is nothing short of sexual abuse and it definitely plants doubts in the viewers mind about Dr Thredson.

8) Adam Levine Getting His Arm Ripped Off By Bloody Face Jnr In Asylum.

Far from his Maroon 5 sing songs, Mr Levine's 'AHS' appearance is short and sweet. He plays a honeymooning nympho who dies in Briarcliff 48 years on.

9) Tate Taking Violet To See That She's Already Died In Murder House.

In one of the most surprising twists of season one, the moment Violet sees her rotting body gave usnightmares for days.

10) The Rubber Man Reveal In Murder House.

Okay, so Tate's always been one of the most disturbed characters on the show, but this reveal was almost too much.

11) Madison Montgomery Getting Gang Raped In Coven.

If we needed a reason to hate collegefraternity even more, this is it. In the first episode of 'Coven' Madison gets gang-raped by a group of them and it's pretty harrowing.

12) Grace Returning From The Dead With Kit's Baby In Her Belly In Asylum.

Okay, so we still don't get the alien stuff in 'Asylum', but what's even weirder is how Grace returns from the dead with Kit's baby inside of her. Super creepy.

13) Twisty The Clown in Freak Show *shivers*

We're still not over this, let's not talk about it.

14) Zoe Raping And Killing The Frat Boy In Coven.

As far as superpowers go, Zoe's is pretty brutal. In the first episode she's already killed two people, one by accident and one very much deliberately. Although, we don't blame her for that one.

15) EVERYTHING SISTER MARY EUNICE (AKA - THE DEVIL) DOES IN ASYLUM!

Sweet, innocent, Sister Mary Eunice soon becomes the most sinister character in the whole of 'Asylum'. Literally everything she does is DEMONIC, but we know who's to blame, she is possessed by the devil!

16) The Countess Sucking The Blood Of An Innocent Couple In Hotel

YAASS GAGA, YAAASS! She literally slays her first victims and sucks their blood. We're amazed (and absolutely terrified).
