This week we’re getting to know Eddie Benjamin, hailing from Australia and now living in Los Angeles the singer-songwriter has been dubbed “the next generation” by none other than pop superstar, Justin Bieber who Eddie supported on the North-American leg of his tour.

With fans such as Bieber and Sia, Eddie is hotly tipped right now and will be playing a show in London next week!

Read on to find out what happened when he met Reese Withserspoon and what guilty pleasures he has on his playlist…

1. For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from…

That’s a hard question. I still don’t know who I fully am to be honest, but at my core I’m a kid from the beach who loves to play music.

2. Who/what inspired you to start a career in music?

I always have had this deep connection with music, there wasn’t even a singular moment that made me realize I wanted to pursue music, it was just kind of my first and only choice ever since I can remember.

3. Who are your biggest musical influences?

Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Bach, Prince

4. Tell us about the writing and recording process of your new release…

It felt like controlled chaos, exploring the unknown is a scary thing and its the only place I want to be, and that’s exactly what it was like through the making of the entire album.

5. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

Playing in an arena for the first time was really special. Going to Top 40 radio with a song that might not usually be considered a radio song was a highlight too. I still feel like I haven’t done much though, there’s a lot more I want to do.

6.Who would you be your dream collaboration and why?

Paul Simon would be so incredible, that would be the craziest collab ever.

7. Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?

I met Reese Witherspoon just the other day in Nashville while I was on tour. Hailey [Bieber] told me someone wanted to meet me, I turn around and it was Reese Witherspoon. She was so kind. Right when I saw her I was definitely star struck, Ive been watching her work ever since I can remember.

8. If you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of time what would it be and why?

Wow, that’s so tough. I think my favorite song of all time is“Still Crazy After All These Years” by Paul Simon. The changes, the solo, the arrangement, that’s music at its peak in my mind. That or“Superstition” by Stevie will never get old for me.

9. What’s on your playlists that people wouldn’t expect?

Yeet, I listen to him a lot.

10. What can we expect from your live shows?

Controlled chaos. I want it to be a party with everyone hugging everyone.

11. When can we see you live this year?

There’s a lot coming up. I’m playing Wembley Stadium for the Capital Summertime Ball and a pop-up show in London a few days later. I have like 4 more dates on the Justice tour coming up with the last ones being in LA.
