You knew it would happen. We knew it would happen. Ed Sheeran has SMASHEDOfficial Charts records today, scoring the chart doubleas'÷ (Divide)'enters at No.1 on the Official Albums Chart becoming the fastest-selling album by a male artist EVER.

This week Ed's final sales tally was a monumental 672,000 giving Ed the highest opening week album sales in Official Chart history for a male artist. It's also the third fastest selling album EVER. Only Adele's '25' (800,000) and Oasis' 'Be Here Now' (696,000) sold more.

Get this: this week'÷' sold more than the rest of the Official Albums Chart Top 500 combined this week and it's already been certified 2 x Platinum by the BPI. Incredible.

It doesn't end there...

'Shape Of You' remains at No.1 on the Official UK Singles Chart, while the rest of the ENTIRE album sits inside the Top 20. SIXTEEN songs. No artist has ever come close to achieving that before. No one. He also holds the entire Top 5, the first time an act has ever achieved that too.

Nine of them are in the Top 10 which now means he's set a record for landing the most Top 10 singles from one album (remember he's done that in ONE week too), beating previous record holder Calvin Harris who scored nine Top 10 singles from '18 Months'.

What about vinyl? Oh, he's also scored the biggest one-week vinyl album sale in more than 20 years. TWO DECADES.
