Electronic Arts has been quick to respond to claims made by Konami that its FIFA games series regularly plagiarises the Japanese firm's PES games.
In an interview with Eurogamer, EA Canada's Matt Bilbey refuted the allegations before going on to praise the great contribution Jon Murphy has made to Konami.
"I hope the management team in Japan appreciate what [Jon Murphy has] been giving to that franchise for a long, long time. He's very, very committed and a great spokesman for the game," said Bilbey.
"I feel for him sometimes, because I've worked with developers that it's challenging to listen to, or they don't necessarily listen to you.
"We were fortunate to have Konami as a competitor, because it motivates you - you can't win unless there's someone to beat," he added.
Meanwhile, Digital Spy report that FIFA’s producer Nick Channon said: "We're not going to stand here and say anything. We're very respectful of PES and we understand we have a very strong competitor.
"We know they want to make a better game every year and ultimately that drives us forward."
According to the site, FIFA is planning to introduce new connectivity later this year, allowing players to carry over the experience from their console to a smartphone or tablet.
They company has also revealed the launch of a new smartphone app which will bring the addition of in-game auctions for Ultimate Teams and career tracking.
FIFA 13 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, 3DS, Vita, PS2, iPhone and iPad from September 28.
