Game of Thrones has scooped eight prizes for technical achievement at this year’s creative Emmy Awards.

The epic fantasy saga dominated Saturday night’s ceremony (12 September) winning awards for Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series and Outstanding Special Visual Effects, amongst others.

HBO cleaned up at the show, winning 29 awards, in categories including casting, sound and visual effects.

Other notable winners include American Horror Story, which scored five wins including Outstanding Costumes for a Period/Fantasy, Outstanding Hairstyling and two for Outstanding Make Up.

Best made-for-TV movie was won by Bessie, starring Queen Latifah, in a biopic about US blues singer Bessie Smith. Inside Amy Schumer won Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

The main awards show will be broadcast on 20 September.
