Tulisa: "The Female Boss Is Not Going Soft"

EXCLUSIVE! N-Dubz star reveals there will be five ballads on debut solo LP...

Tulisahas revealed that her debut solo album is like an iPod of different musical genres - with the singer getting the chance to experiment with her softer side.
Speaking of her first LP away from the comforts ofN-Dubz, the 24-year old exclusively told MTV.co.uk: "I think with my album there is a bit of everything, you know you got your girly ballads to your hip-pop, as I call it, a bit of Ibiza Dance - there’s a lot of different genres of music on there.

"I wanted the singles to show that and to reach out to different kinds of people with each song that I release, so that people can tell there is something on there for everyone - no matter what kind of music you are into and you like."
She continued: "I did that with Live It Up, I think Live It Up represents one side of the album and Young represents another and there’s no kind of genre to it, all the tracks on there are pretty diverse.
"There are lots of ballads on the album, literally I would say at least five, whether it would be love songs, slow jams or heartfelt tracks on there."
When asked if The Female Boss was going soft following the revelation that her next single would be one of those ballads, Tulisa assured us: "The Female Boss is not going soft by bringing out a ballad, just because someone is 'a female boss' doesn’t mean they don’t have a heart.
"The Female Boss does not just represent being hard, it’s about female empowerment and a feminine trait is to have emotions and to be able to express those emotions.I do have a very sensitive side, I am a highly emotional person if I don’t always let it show but you might see it now and then on The X Factor.

"I’ve always wanted to release a ballad, I never really got to do it with N-Dubz. The closest I got to that was Best Behaviour and we were accommodating for each other as a three. Now I get to do it."
Revealing more about her third single, T went on: "I just absolutely love the song, it’s not because I am singing it, anyone in the world could sing this song and I would be like 'I have to have that song'. I’m really excited about shooting the video for it, I’m going to be doing quite a lot of acting in it as well."
As well as showing her emotional side on her record, the 24-year old added that her LP reflects her as a solo artist, stating: "This is who I want to be, this is how I want to be portrayed, I just wanted to be myself.
"I like all kinds of different music, so I just said all the songs on the album are going to be songs I personally like and would listen to and that is how I was thinking when I went into it."
She added: "That is probably why it is so diverse, it’s like a Tulisa iPod!"
