Halloween is a tricky season.Having to somehow garner up enough bank to purchase a costume that’ll do the spook-fest some justice is a struggle, and then actually finding a costume that represents yourself without it sucking is even harder.

Now enter Lara Jean Covey from Netflix’s teen romcom To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. It’s highly likely that you’ve seen many a Lara Jean costume on Twitter over the weekend, and there’s a very good reason why.

The character is finally offering up representation to Asian people that has been sorely lacking in mainstream media and pop culture, like, forever.

Jenny Han, the author of the YA novel that inspired the hit movie, took to Twitter to explain the significance behind one of this year’s most popular Halloween costumes, and to retweet the best ones.

FYI, people are ridiculously talented when it comes to dressing up as Lara.

‘There are very limited options for Asian girls on Halloween,’” Jenny wrote, citing one of Lara Jean's quotes from theTATBILB novel.

“‘Like one year I went as Velma from Scooby-Doo, but people just asked me if I was a manga character.’ Not this Halloween, Lara Jean,” Jenny finished her tweet with. It’s a whole thread of the best costumes. What more could we ask for?!

The thread is filled with people recreating the film’s most iconic moments, from the selfie moment at the house party, to the love letters Lara wrote, and poses of people re-enacting the handshake that solidified Lara Jean’s and Peter Kavinsky’s “relationship contract.”
