FIF: Prince Harry

Our "f**k it!" Friday inspo is Prince Harry this week, bow down! No, actually.

HELLO and welcome back to F**k It Friday – the MTV Breaks feature that’s all about the excellent people who have just said “f**k it!” (probably) in order to conquer the career world and bless us with their inspiring “f**k it”ness.

Cos being a true “f**k it”er is not about just having ideas – it’s about 100% following them through despite every qualm, every taboo, and every expectation that might stand in the way.

So who’s our FIF King/ Queen this week? Well, this time he’s ACTUALLY blue blooded though he’ll probably never be King, drumroll… it’s PRINCE HARRY!

Yep, our red-headed real life “f**k it” royal is Hazza this week and for plenty of good reasons. Harry is 32 and the younger of the two Princes of England, and he’s definitely got himself in a bit of a royal mess a few times growing up. He reminded us that a royal teen is no different from a normal one by publically going through all the classic teen rituals of drinking, partying and making terrible mistakes. He has caused a national scandal once or twice, but we kind of loved him being relatable tbh.

Now that he’s all grown up he’s proved that he’s fully committed to charity work and campaigning for important causes, but what ultimately made him our “f**k it” King this week?

Harry’s much loved late mother, Princess Diana, did a lot to tackle taboos about HIV when the transmission of HIV seemed a terrifying topic in the 1980s and early 90s. When a picture was taken of Diana shaking the hand of a man with HIV in 1991 it became iconic, and did a lot to prove to the public that you cannot transmit HIV through basic physical contact.

But Harry took his mum’s great work a step further. On World AIDS Day in December he said “f**k it!” and got tested for HIV to encourage everyone to find out their status. But he also did it in Barbados with Rihanna… Nice Work.

In 2016 he also got a girlfriend called Meghan Markle, and when the tabloids’ reactions to the pairing included racist and sexist undertones, he issued a public statement about the “wave of abuse and harassment” that she had been subjected to, defending her and saying that an unacceptable line had been crossed.

He’s literally the real life Prince Charming. And, most importantly, he’s our “f**k it!” chosen one this week for standing up for his values and breaking down taboos, and always reminding us to strive to make a difference in whichever way we can.

Love u Haz! And happy Friday everyone!
