From the moment front man Maynard James Keenan arrived on stage (in sunnies, flourescant workman's jacket and a new mohican) the band rocked. Hard.

Frenetic drums, crunching guitars, bass that sent the foundations of Wembley shuddering, and Keenan's dark, brooding vocals all came together to make an awesome sound that kept the crowd singing from start to finish - and the mosh pit jumping.

Playing to a video back drop of guitarist Adam Jones's trippy art work, the LA band rampaged through tunes from their last four albums with hard rock rattler 'Stinkfist' going down a storm.

Favourites 'Schism' and 'Lateralus' also had the crowd going mad in the mosh pit while the epic, pyschadelia of new album tunes, 'Rosetta Stoned' and the mystical, tabla-sprinkled '10,000 Days' - all played while a spectacular laser show flashed around the arena - proved the band can do mystical as well as they do hard-edged metal.

Keenan even had time for a bit of banter with the mixed crowd explaining how each member of the band has links with the UK.

The highlight was an encore of 'Aenama' - a crowd favourite, which had everyone up on their feet and clapping and cheering for the band long after they'd left the stage.
