Chuck Berry Kicks Off Camp Bestival

The guy who practically invented rock and roll headlines the first night of the new festival...

Chuck Berry headlined the first night of Camp Bestival yesterday at Dorset's Lulworth castle. The 81 year old graced the main stage at the 'boutique' festival after acts like Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip and The Cuban Brothers had played. Berry- and his excellent band including his son and daughter- played hits Roll Over Beethoven, Johnny Be Goode and You Never Can Tell. The family packed crowd appreciated the set- which ended with female audience members on stage dancing along- from the man credited with inventing rock and roll. Today festival goers at the countryside site- near Bournemouth- will be treated to sets from The Flaming Lips and Black Kids. The sister festival to Bestival also features fancy dress, the world's largest marching band and a large kids field. Check back on mtvnews.co.uk for more updates from the festival
