Alternative Celebrity Workouts For Anyone Who Hates The Gym

There is nothing less appealing at this time of year than hitting the gym. Just to get your ass there you need a hella lot of motivation and the thought of doing your normally routine seems like some sort of fresh hell.

So why not make like a celeb and try out an alternative work-out that won’t kill you with boredom? From belly dancing to riding a bike in a dark room singing to Justin Bieber we’ve got the Hollywood approved work-outs to motivate you this Winter….

S3: Strong, Sexy and Svelte

Hollowood trainer Kristin McGee has created a celeb-loved workout that combines Pilates, power yoga and dumbells. The three 25-min routines help tone your bod to look like fans LeAnn Rimes and Bethenny Frankel. And have you seen them?

Barry’s Bootcamp

Nothing comes easy in life and Barry’s Bootcamp is the proof of that. Although you can burn up to 1000 calories per session, it’s packed with high energy interval training focusing on treadmills, resistance bands, body bars and kettlebells. Jessica Biel, Amanda Seyfried and Ellie Goulding flock to classes but beware, it’s NOT for the faint of heart. The downside is that at the moment it’s only available in London.

Crossfit

Crossfit has been around for over 20 years and has earned its reputation and one of the most grueling work-outs out there. Celebs like Madonna and Cameron Diaz take part in the circuits of weightlifting, plyometrics, cardio, kettlebells and more. We’re tired just writing about it.

Belly dancing

Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Beyonce and Vanessa Hudgens are all mega fans of belly-dancing so try this in your living room to get those abs working.

Barre

Inspired by ballet dance training, Barre is a workout designed to tone your muscles to within an inch of your life. Plus, like celeb fans, Gigi Hadid and Miranda Kerr, you’ll feel like an elegant ballerina. You know, after a few classes.

Spinning

Hollywood’s SoulCycle introduced celebs to a whole new world of spinning. You can burn up to 700 calories in just 45 minutes and it’s as easy as riding a bike. Well, it’s actually riding a bike but it's well tiring. The UK versions Boomcycle and Psycle have opened studios complete with dance music and dark roomsin London but most gyms do a great spin class. Lady Gaga, Ashley Tisdale and Lea Michele are all converts.

Kickboxing

A ton of celebs including the Victoria Secret models like Gigi Hadid and Ashley Graham are in love with kickboxing. It gets in a ton ofcardio and strength and is actually really fun. Plus great for taking out mid-week aggression. Most gyms do classes or there are specific boxing gyms that you can head to. Ideal.

The Tracy Anderson Method

Tracy Anderson is one of the top celeb trainers with clients including Courteney Cox, Lena Dunham and Gwyneth Paltrow. She hasstudios in the States but luckily has a home version for all of us non-USfolk. Metamorphisis By Tracy is an intensive DVD that show you celeb work-outs and change very 10 days so you’ll never get bored. The downside is, it’s pretty pricey at around £70 BUT it’s for a 90-day programme so well less than a gym membership.

Dance cardio

Celeb trainers like Revenge Body’s Simone De La Rue train mega celebs like Khloe Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen with a routine of dance to get that in the cardio to burn calories. It’s fun and even if you’re the most uncoordinated klutz around, you’ll still work up a mega sweat. You can grab a routine on YouTube or hit a class at most gyms.

TRX suspension

This is one you can actually do at home, if you’ve got the right gear and a space for your ropes. Designed by Navy Seals, the body weight training system target all of your muscles and improves balance and flexibility. Celebs fans like Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani suffer through the day-after soreness to get super toned with TRX.
